About Finca Escondida

What if...

…you combine a beautiful property (finca) on a hidden (escondida) green land, 300 sunny days a year and comfortable rooms? Those are the ingredients for a success recipe which is called Finca Escondida

Talking about recipes… Jody loves to cook and will make you a fresh and vegetarian breakfast during your stay. With fruit from the own garden (if the harvest is good) while overlooking the green mountains and surroundings.

Forget crowded hotels, reserving your pool bed at 6 am with a towel in a place that lacks atmosphere...

When staying at Finca Escondida, you no longer need a vacation from your holiday. After a stay at our place you’ll feel well-rested and recharged to rock the rest of the year.

After a good night of sleep, you bounce up – completely refreshed – from your super soft, hotel worthy bed. Recharged and ready for a new day. You open the curtains and get treated with a beautiful view of a green garden with palm trees. Ah… holiday really has started. In the meantime, the Nespresso machine is simmering. Your cup’s waiting of comfort is waiting to drink from the bed with the stunning views.

There’s only one choice you need to make today: do you put your swimwear on for a refreshing splash in the pool or are you wearing your sporty clothes to climb the impressive castle of Xàtiva? – with spectacular views over the city.

Oh well, you don’t need to make that choice immediately. That fragrant cup of coffee awaits. And once that cup’s finished, scoop into a table near the pool – Finca Escondida’s fresh breakfast is waiting for you. How about a sandwich with fresh fig jam, a chia pudding with muesli from our own kitchen, a squeezed orange juice from our own garden, accompanied by a delicious warm croissant?

Meet the parents

We are Jody and Sander, world travelers by heart. In 2019 we exchanged our salaried jobs, social circle in the Netherlands and Sander’s apartment in Breda for adventure. We wanted to work where and when we wanted and ultimate freedom was our goal.

We worked from the most beautiful places (Thailand, Colombia and Mexico – to name a few) and learned a lot about ourselves and other cultures. In 2021 we stayed in Colombia and dreamed about our future home (and B&B) in Spain. We started doing some preliminary research to *someday* make that dream come true. Little did we know that, a few moments later, we were already diving into the Spanish housemarket.

After dozens of viewings, several offers, a disappointment here and there and many lessons about the Spanish housing market, we have finally found our dream home in Xàtiva. And from spring 2024 we will open our doors for all those adventurous travellers who want to stay in an authentic, luxury and cozy boutique B&B.

Personal but private

What makes our B&B unique compared with all the other ones? Well, I guess you have to find out yourself. Finca Escondida is one of a kind and the magic is hard to capture in a picture. The first time we entered this property we knew it right away: this is our new home! The mountains that surround the garden, the stunning views, beautiful fruit garden and cooling pool… you will immediately feel the good energy & vibes.

Furthermore, we love to pamper our guests. We love to keep it personal, but private. We will wait for you with a refreshing welcome drink, show you around the property, give some recommendations around town – and then we’ll leave you alone. So you can enjoy your holiday bubble in your home, far away from home. Questions, feedback or just a great conversation over a glass of wine? We are there, but we won’t invade your space.

About the rooms

Travelling is a big part of our identity. Many places left us speachless and we’ve learned so much from this. That’s why you will see some subtile details in our B&B that refer to our travels.

First of all… the name ‘Finca Escondida’. Besides the literal translation to ‘hidden property’, we also refer to our travels to ‘Puerto Escondido’, a sleepy town in Mexico’s West Coast. It literally means ‘hidden harbour’ and we have some great memories from this place. Furthermore, the rooms are decorated in Bali/Ibiza-style with the light and bright colors, rotan-style lights and earthy tints.

We’ve named our rooms to 2 places in the world that are very special to us. The first one is ‘Koh Pha Ngan’, a remote island in the South of Thailand. We’ve spent there a few months and – besides Spain and the Netherlands – it definitely feels like home! Also, it was in march 2023 when we were there and we heard that everything around our Spanish house was finalized. The second one is Colombia: there we made the plans to settle in Spain and start a B&B. We’ve added some small details from these two places in the world. Can you find them in the room?

And of course – with using local products from Spain – this country is of course widely represented in our cozy B&B. Finca Escondida has the best of all worlds!

Room 1 - Koh Pha Ngan

One thing we love everytime we wake up in Koh Pha Ngan? The great weather, staying near the beach and the waving palmtrees.

Well, guess what? From this room, you have a stunning view on our garden with the extra window – facing the beautiful palmtree. If you like exotic places, you will definitely feel at home in this room.

Room 2 - Colombia

The ‘Latino’ culture, the Spanish music that blasts out of the speakers on every corner… we absolutely love this vibrant place!

In this room you can dance the night away, since the room and bathroom are larger. You are a bit more hidden in the corner – which makes this room a perfect, private paradise. Just like Colombia is.
